Motivation is the Key to MLM and Network Marketing
In a
multi-level marketing (MLM) company, distributors of a product recruit more
distributors, and those distributors will then recruit more distributors, and so
on. These programs often appeal to individuals who are hoping to make some money
quickly. However, true MLM success usually takes a lot of time and effort.
Therefore, one of the biggest difficulties in reaching MLM success is staying
motivated.
Typical
MLM distributors are initially very excited about the possibilities that MLM
companies offer and consequently throw themselves into their new work.
Unfortunately, if they do not start making impressive amounts of money quickly,
they may soon give up. This is, at least in part, due to the exaggerated sales
pitches that are often used to recruit new distributors. In reality, it is
possible to make money through a MLM company. But, depending on how the MLM
company’s compensation plan is set up, it might be a long time before new
distributors make money.
The reason
for the profit delay is quite simple. Distributors make money by earning
commissions of the sales of the people they have recruited. Distributors also
receive commissions on the sales of people who were recruited by the
distributor’s recruits. So, the bigger the network that a distributor creates,
the more money he or she will make. But large networks are not developed over
night.
While a
network is developing, a distributor must remain motivated and constantly put
forth an effort to recruit more people. Distributors should also try to motivate
the people they recruited, since their success is inseparable. Motivation begins
during recruitment. In other words, although distributors must portray the MLM
system in a favorable way and provide examples of people who have made large
sums of money, distributors should not exaggerate financial possibilities in a
way that will make people expect immediate results and give up after these
expectations are not met.
In order to
stay motivated, distributors should develop a long term and realistic plan. This
plan should include goals, in terms of money made and people recruited, as well
as the amount of time that will be devoted to work for the MLM company during
each week.
